Indian benchmark indices, Sensex and Nifty, are likely to open on a firm note on Monday, October 12, tracking positive cues from GIFT Nifty, which was trading around 22,645 in early deals.
In the previous session on Friday, domestic equity markets closed sharply higher, with the Sensex surging 879 points, while the Nifty advanced 289 points.
On Friday, the 30-share benchmark index ended at 72472.33 up by 879.09 points or by 1.23 % and then NSE Nifty was at 22520.45 up by 288.65 points or by 1.3 %.
On the global front, Asia-Pacific markets were trading on a mixed note on Monday morning, tracking a decline in oil prices and as traders exercised caution ahead of the advent of earnings season. South Korea’s KOSPI fell 2 per cent, while Hang Seng rose 0.59 per cent.
Markets in Japan were closed for a holiday.
Last Friday, the Dow Jones Industrial Average and the S&P 500 ended 0.83 per cent and 0.59 per cent higher, respectively. The Nasdaq Composite settled 0.64 per cent higher.
