Sensex surges 728 points propelled by buying in IT firms

Indian benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty extended gains on Friday, supported by strong buying in IT stocks after Tech Mahindra reported a 28.4% year-on-year increase in consolidated net profit for the June quarter, boosting sentiment in the technology sector.

At 10:30 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 77915.28 up by 728.41 points or by 0.94 % and then NSE Nifty was at 24255.6 up by 182.85 points or by 0.76 %.

Sensex touched intraday high of 77989.44 and intraday low of 77308 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 24279 and intraday low of 24099.05

The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Reliance Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1320.35,+2.12%), Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1329.20,+1.88%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1100.05,+1.76%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1537.90,+1.76%), Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (Rs. 2134.95,+1.73%), among others.

The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were UltraTech Cement Ltd. (Rs. 11715.00,-0.55%), InterGlobe Aviation Ltd. (Rs. 5241.15,-0.49%), Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 1913.65,-0.43%), Eternal Ltd. (Rs. 285.35,-0.38%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1944.75,-0.27%), among others.
