India's merchandise exports rose 23.04% year-on-year to USD 44.4 billion in September 2026, compared with USD 36.08 billion in the corresponding month last year, supported by healthy growth in shipments of petroleum products, electronic goods and chemicals, according to government data released on Thursday.
The merchandise trade deficit narrowed to USD 30.21 billion in September from USD 33 billion a year earlier, aided by a decline in precious metal imports.
However, the trade deficit widened from USD 26.86 billion recorded in August 2026.
