India's wholesale price index (WPI)-based inflation accelerated to 11.39% in September, up from 9.92% in August, driven by rising prices across food, manufactured products, and fuel and power, according to government data released on Wednesday.
Inflation in the food index increased to 8.66% in September from 7.05% in the preceding month, indicating an acceleration in wholesale food price pressures.
The manufactured products category recorded inflation of 9.76% in September, compared with 8.37% in August, marking a series high, according to the data.
Meanwhile, inflation in the fuel and power segment rose to 25.85% during September, up from 22.93% in the previous month, reflecting continued pressure from energy-related costs.
The latest figures indicate a broad-based increase in wholesale prices, with higher costs across key sectors contributing to the rise in overall inflation.
