India’s national telemedicine service eSanjeevani has crossed the landmark of 50 crore (500 million) teleconsultations, highlighting the growing role of digital healthcare in improving access to medical services across the country.
The platform achieved the milestone on September 15, 2026, recording a cumulative 50,00,92,730 consultations across all 36 States and Union Territories. The service has been particularly useful in extending healthcare access to people in rural, remote and underserved regions.
eSanjeevani currently connects more than 1.42 lakh Ayushman Arogya Mandir spokes, 19,473 medical hubs and 901 online OPDs, with around 2.42 lakh registered healthcare providers. Available in 15 languages, the platform facilitates approximately 2.5–3 lakh consultations daily, with its highest single-day usage reaching over 6.3 lakh consultations.
Women account for 57.14% of total consultations, while people aged 46 years and above make up 40.15% of usage, including 16.25% from senior citizens aged 60 years and above.
The platform has also expanded its technological capabilities with the integration of an AI-powered Clinical Decision Support System (AI-CDSS) to assist healthcare professionals in clinical decision-making. The system received the Gold Award at the National Awards for e-Governance 2026.
In addition, eSanjeevani has been integrated with ERSS-112, strengthening the connection between emergency response services and remote medical expertise. The service is also expanding into specialist consultations, with select services already available through AIIMS Jodhpur, AIIMS Jammu and AIIMS Patna.
Developed by C-DAC, eSanjeevani has evolved from a primary healthcare telemedicine service into a nationwide digital health platform connecting patients with healthcare professionals across multiple levels of care. The government said the expansion is aimed at reducing geographical barriers and supporting more equitable access to healthcare.
